Title: Walther or Pukeberg Circular Textured Candleholders : ID - one of each
Post by: Pip on March 28, 2007, 11:48:53 PM
Hiya, I've seen the Walther circular candleholders before - the ones with the green and red bullseye type motif to them - and these candleholders are both circular in shape but one has a textured lined type effect to it and the other has a pattern of raised circles.  Does anyone know who might have made these - whether Walther, Pukeberg, Iittala or even another company entirely?  Any help appreciated :-) TIA

I'm sure I've seen the one with circles with a Walther label on before.

Pip,

Here's the circles one with a Walther label:

I always thought the circles were meant to represent a flower head (somewhat abstract though ??? )

Thanks Nic, Marcus and Robbo. From the information on here and the delving I've done this morning both online and in books it would appear that (as confirmed by Robbo's labelled piece) the circles is definitely a Walther piece but the other one with the lines is Pukeberg designed by Uno Westerberg.  Certainly all the information I've gathered about that one is that it's Pukeberg but I'll keep looking and see if I can find one with a cast-iron attribution.

Might be worth checking eBay.de - there are usually masses of these types of vases in all different designs, with and without labels. And you can occasionally pick up some very nice, very inexpensive joblots of them.

Cheers Nic  ;)

Oh and I correct my assumption that these were candleholders - I can see now that they are obviously single stem vases.

Maybe listed as solifleurs as well Pip. :)

Thanks Anne, the Walther one definitely but I shan't refer to the Pukeberg one as such to avoid confusion with their current production of a tall thin solifleur vase.
