Please excuse me if i get this wrong, but this is the first time i have used the site. I wondered if anyone had any information regarding glass made in Wells England. I recently bought a nice glass vase which has a tiny engraved mark on the base that says Made in Wells England in a circular tiny mark.I would be grateful for any information

Hi and welcome to the Glass Message Board Lucky. :D Is it possible your mark says 'Webb' (stylised writing with the second 'b' underscoring the word), and not Wells?

Thank you Max,although its rubbed i think thats it,a friend had looked but when i put my eye glass on i can see it.Many thanks. Its not like the Webb i would usually see, being more used to Whitefriars and venetian.Thank you for your friendly advice regards chriss

I'm glad that helped Lucky. :) I used Ivo Haanstra's 'Glass Fact File A-Z' to check the mark. If I have read it correctly, that mark should date your vase between 1936-1949. That's something for you to start with at least. :)
