Title: Amber pressed glass bowl and lady - bowl ID = Brockwitz "Fortuna"
Post by: Gill on April 22, 2007, 11:21:04 AM
Sorry to swamp you all but you know what it's like once you get started!  Picked up this bowl and lady the other day. I have a couple of queries on this one.
1. Anyone any idea what the hoops are for on the rim of the bowl?
2. Do you think the lady goes with the bow, looks a bit swamped to me?
3. Any idea of makers?

That's three I know, sorry!

I agree with you that she doesn't quite look as if she fits the bowl!  Have you tried looking on Pamela's site?  http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/index2.html

Bowl and lady definitely don't match, however, they are both interesting pieces.

The lady may be Sowerby though I am not so familiar with the details of these stump girl figures.

The bowl appears to be Brockwitz 'fortuna' pattern. Your example looks to be the version with the peg holes in the rim which take small detachable bird figurines; see here:
