Hiya, I've had these for a little while sitting in a cabinet - I bought them because they're just absolutely gorgeous - a lovely shape, very heavy indeed (the bases are solid) and an incredibly intense dark purpley blue colour (the colour of my photographs isn't accurate, my camera has distorted the true colour because in real life they're a much inkier dark blue/purple). As you can see they're a fairly distinctive shape - I was wondering if anyone recognised them and could offer any info regarding designer, date, age etc. TIA.

Hi Pip
Is this a match? It's not easy to tell from the elevation of the photo. I think the base is probably a tad wider than yours. But at least it gives a description of what it is!

Cheers Chris - that's really helpful! Yes you're right about the bases - mine are rounder than those but the overall shape is spot on. Thanks a lot for your help - I guess these are probably modern production - I shall delve deeper into the 'Masonic' connection. Thanks again.

If yours are the same size, then they are current production from Bristol Blue Glass.

Thanks Christine - I don't think the seller gives dimensions of his glasses, I might email and ask him, but I think you're right, they're new production. Cheers everyone, sorry for the tardy reply, been offline for a few days (laptop problems ::)).

The seller is the maker, it just doesn't look like it is :)

You're right Christine - there are some fascinating glass blowing sequences on there also - in particular something called an 'Abona' which looks like a twiddly glass sculpture - over 7 mins of glassblowing and it's amazing to watch! Anyway, yes my blue glasses are definitely from these people - I'm rather pleased because I bought my set of four for next to nothing - a bargain ;D
