Title: Decanter on a Czech theme - Made in Italy

Looks like the pattern on the vases and ashtrays by Jan Schmid for Rosice or Libochovice (I forget which).  Except that it has a star-moulded base with MADE IN ITALY embossed on it.  The colour would seem to be good for Empoli.

Another example of an Italian manufacturer "borrowing" from the Czech glass designers?

It wouldn't surprise me if the influence was as you suspected Chris.  Does your decanter have a plastic coated stopper?  I remember buying a Aurinkopullojen lookalike decanter years ago, which turned up having 'Made In Italy' on the bottom.   ::)

Yup, with plastic vanes sticking out like with cheapo imitation champagne corks.

I guess the Comecon East Europeans didn't patent their designs or sue when their ideas got nicked.
