Title: Ugly Pink Fish
Post by: Leni on May 02, 2007, 09:06:33 PM
I was just looking at Javier's auctions and his lovely pink fish, and I wondered if my ugly little fellow was any sort of poor relation.  He's a similar colour, pink with gold in, but he's not nearly as handsome!  (But I love him anyway, 'cos he was a present from Max & Peter  :D )

Can anyone tell me who might have made him?  Or is he just 'generic Murano', poor little chap!

Hi Leni,
I have the same style fish, only in Blue Sommerso, but no pedestal.
I also saw the same fish with a Barbini label (in green), but was a little surprised by it, since the shape is a bit unusual for Barbini. You can also see the same style fish with the generic Venetian J.I. Co. labels so im not really sure. I'd say most likely Barbini (taking in consideration the 1 I saw with a label).

Thanks, Javier.  He'll be holding his head up proudly tonight, as a 'probably Barbini'  :D

Hi, you can consider as a generic murano glasswork. Pretty common, not very nice shape, but anyway a good craft. Probably it is a lso pretty old. As I wrote in other topics, I don't care too much about the labels; too easy here to provide spare labels to be attached everywhere you want.

Sincerely

Alex

Don't listen to Alex Leni, I think your fish is Barbini, with Fratelli Toso and Venini overtones!   ;D ;D ;D ;)

Never look down on aspirationals  ;) ;D
(Does anyone ever use that term outside Australasia?)

Sorry. sorry,
it is a Barbini one. Bought by the Pope in the Pauly showroom in the 1963...
The double signature Barbini - Pope is a guarantee for it
