:D I see there's not been anybody here for a couple of days - we can't have that! So although I know I've said I don't "do" paperweights but, as I'm sure you all know, as I do "do" glass, I obviously do have some paperweights!
This is one of my favourites, it's by Mike Hunter, Twists Glass.
Hope you like it!

Sue, What a Fab weight! That got me to thinking, which one of mine is my favorite. I can't decide. Terry

Sue, What a Fab weight!
I second that! Very nice, Sue :D
I've looked at adding a Twist Glass weight to my collection. Just waiting for the 'right' one to come along!

Love it Sue! He's gorgeous! :D

:D Thanks everybody!
I think he looks as if he's guarding his treasure, as if he has aspirations of a dragonly nature 8) !
By the way, Frank, Twists Glass is Scottish. Cheers, Sue

Do you have any info on them?
-
Yes Sue, nice weight. They come in various colour schemes to suit almost everyone's decor.
Actual company name is Twist Glass Studios. They are in Selkirk, Scotland. They sell through UK and US dealers but also stand at some Glass Fairs in the UK.
The April 2004 edition of the PCC Newsletter had an article titled, Michael J Hunter, Glass Designer Maker. It was pointed out that: Michael won the UK gift of the year for best collectable in 2002 with a paperweight entitled 'Lizard' and that the intricate twisted cane work of the Lizard is a signature mark of his Studio.
The Newsletter article also tells us that Michael used to live in Kings Lynn and he worked at Wedgwood Glass, but went on to develop his twist canes following up on 18th century glass seen in the local musuem. Amazingly, he has produced over 350 (perhaps even more these days) different twists using just white cane - when coloured cane is introduced, the number of twists is ... well ... think of a number and then think again.

:D Hello again, I've got Mike Hunter's CV somewhere, but couldn't put my paws on it. I'll have a hunt again tomorrow. It says much of what KevH says, though. The lizards come in purple, blue, green and pink. I first saw one at the Scottish Glass Society Exhibition, 2002. I bought this one in the Strathearn Gallery last year. They don't turn up that often, I don't think, as I was looking around for one for a while. They all do seem to be slightly different. Mine has a pink and a blue spiral going around the lattice bit on the body, but it's toes are not latticed. TTFN, Sue.

New pics required, I take it? :)

Hi Sue
Some new pictures would be great. Tiny pics have a habit of vanishing after a while Sue as you know. I have been using Picasa for a little while really pleased with it. Give it a go Sue. Hope all is well your end.

I use paintshop these days Trudy. and I can post directly to the board now. ;D
I did click on a picassa downloady link once - and the thing took off like a dose of salts throughout the whole pc :o :o :o
- so I immediately shut everything down. I'm not having things coming in and going through my stuff like that!
The pc has got Michael's stuff in it too - I don't nosey at his things and the picassa thing went though all of his stuff!
I'd have had to interfere with his privacy in order to use it - and I haven't a clue what he's got here, I don't know if there might even be dodgy stuff. I would doubt it, but that's not the point.
I'll have to take new pics of my weights - I don't think I still have the originals.

I have always used irfanview and it does not need to library all your images. Easy to use and quick. It was one of the members on here. Sadly I can't use it on i pad and have a weird programme that I don't like.

I'm not even sure what an ipad is. Don't have one, don't need one. ;D
