I've just recently acquired this unusual asymmetric version of the Bagley grantham vase. I recall reading about this shape but this is the first time I've actually seen an example.

I presume it was meant to be paired as a garniture or similar though sadly I only have one of these vases. It measures approximately 6 1/2 inches tall. Was this the only size available or were others produced?

Steven — There is no evidence that it was called Grantham. Two patterns were launched at the same time, and, as Bagley were using a date-related pattern number, they were numbered 334 and 334½. 334½ had a short production life, so was never named. 334 was subsequently named Grantham.
Two versions of 334½ were made, in just the one size. Yours was launched in PG 1 Sept 1934 without a name or number. In PG 1 Oct 1935 it was named 334½ Side Vase, and is shown as a pair garnishing a 3-piece 1122 flower set.
The other was launched earlier in the PG on 1 Aug 1934 and named Centre Vase and Holder. No. 334½. This has a symetrical shape with the asymetric decoration.
Both are scarce to rare. Their flower holders are some of the rarest Bagley items known.

I bought this Bagley 334 1/2 centre vase recently. It would seem to have been a very uncommon vase and comes complete with its original flower holder.
Height 8"
Weight 1350gm

I have had a good look for a few days and cannot find any pictures of another Bagley 334 1/2 centre vase. I can find a few of the side vases but all are 6.5". If you had the set of 3 would the centre vase have all been 8" with the smaller side vases either side or did they make both vases in 2 sizes.
Would a Mod please message Angela and let her know she is very welcome to use any pictures for any future additions to the Bagley book.

Thank you so much Roy. I'm not currently planning a new edition but when I do I'll get in touch.
On page 113 of our book Bagley Glass, 3rd Edition there is a photo of two side vases in frosted blue and a picture from a Bagley advertisement of the centre vase (in black and white). Very best wishes

Slightly asymmetric in frosted blue

found at Savers -approx A$6.00
Needs a clean, but am no expert on glass.
Have I identified it correctly?

Welcome, and well done. That's a lovely example of the Grantham 334 1/2 vase, and such a bargain. It isn't the asymmetric version, which you can see on page 111 of the Fourth Edition of my book Bagley Glass, and also shown in Anne's pictures at the top of this discussion thread.
