Title: Glass Fly Dish
Post by: vambo on May 13, 2007, 09:42:16 AM
I'm sure I've seen this type of design somewhere before

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v32/vamboman/What/100_0224Medium.jpg

And this one is etched to the base but i can't quite decipher it

I think it reads something like GRT Vclissere (???) France, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Doesn't that etching say 'Vannes France'?  Vannes made lots of fish and birds in clear glass so a fly isn't out of the question although I'm out of my comfort zone with this type of glass.

Excellent deciphering Pip, found the manufacturer straight away, it's Cristalleries de Vannes-le-Châtel, France, many thanks. ;)

You're welcome - I've seen the Vannes mark before (on here) and read about other pieces on this board so I guess it must at long last be sinking in! This really is a great place for learning about glass.
