Title: Does Murano glass have "hallmarks" or equivilent?
Post by: wolf on April 26, 2005, 12:01:27 AM
An appraiser recently said my bowl Murano circa 1940 - 1960. It is amethyst glass, transfer printed, hand embellished paint and gold leaf. It is just under 16 inches across and 2.5 inches high. (On the bottom of the bowl is etched (very poorly) 3 lines.
line 1 looks like "murano"
line 2 looks like "040 or 090"
line 3 looks like "alexoa????"
They appraiser couldn't read it either. A photo of the bottom wouldn't be any help.
When I get photos I will forward to show you all my beautiful bowl.

A picture of the sig would help as someone may recognise the signature, also of the piece itself.
