I was wondering if anyone knows if US glass ever made items in Milk Glass? I have a Manhattan Cake Salver Cake STand that I am trying to identify.

I have a copy of The Collectors Encyclopedia of Pattern Glass by Mollie Helen McCain, the entry for Manhattan reads. US Glass Co #15078 ( Glassport ), 1902-10. Extended table service in Crystal rose-flashed green-flashed is being reproduced. Your milk glass piece could well be a reprodution, Jeanette Glass reproduced a range called "Shell Pink" from lots of old moulds maybe this piece could be from Jeanette Glass, just an idea!!

I am thinking this is older milk glass, sort of swirly and creamy not dead opaque.

Hello:
US Glass remained in business from 1891 until the 1960s and made just about everything in glass. So, I am pretty sure that the answer is yes.
A couple of observations:
First and foremost, US Glass is included in a Checklist of Some Major Manufacturers of Milk Glass in the The Milk Glass Book by Frank Chiarenza and James Slater. Frank Chiarenza is an excellent glass researcher.
Second, US Glass reintroduced a limited number of forms in a few EAPG era glass patterns in the 1950s including several Manhattan pieces. This was the heyday of milk glass production so it may be that your salver is from that time frame.

The link is just to add some background information which might not be relevant to your salver. The two Rindskoff pieces mentioned are a lidded butter dish and a small bowl.

Very good question. This 50s/60s era is way out of my normal interests so there are probably resources available that can provide a better answer than what I can dig up. That having been said, I have tried to put together a list based largely on information from Identifying Pattern Glass Reproductions by Jenks, Luna and Reilly. I have provided the original manufacturer's name not the US Glass (Tiffin) reissued name. To my knowledge, these were all made using the original moulds.
15086 Mirror aka Galloway – Punch bowl, cups and underplate
15155 Cromwell aka Knobby Bullsey - Punch bowl, ladle, cups and underplate
15078 Manhattan - Punch bowl, ladle, cups and underplate; salver in various colours (not in the above reference - based on a presentation at 2006 Glass Gathering and a visit to the Tiffin museum)
George Duncan's Sons & Co No. 42 aka Mardi Gras by Duncan Glass (a division of US Glass) - two versions of the punch set in clear and bud vases in milk glass)
Mascotte – apothecary jars in various shapes in clear and various colours, stacking jars clear and stained and maybe milk glass
15119 Palm Beach – by Duncan Glass (a division of US Glass) – bowls, butter, creamer, olive dish, pickle dish, water pitcher, sauce dish, sugar, tumbler vase in milk glass
I am sure there are more but this is a start. I am also sure that we have members who can add to or edit this list.

I have seen the Manhattan punch set on ebay but was not aware it was 1950s, will have to keep a close watch as I am very interesed in EAPG I have a few pieces I collect and some I sell, there ia quite a lot here in NZ.
