Title: ID help on British VASELINE/URANIUM cream/sugar/marmalade
Post by: mrvaselineglass on April 29, 2005, 01:33:01 AM
Hello all
I am taking a shot here to see if there is any knowledge of these pieces.  The creamer and sugar are a matched set and were purchased in separate sales, both from England.  They are old flint glass, circa 1850, and are actually a lot more yellow than the photo shows, due to the camera flash.

The marmade dish is also yellow vaseline, about 1850, heavy flint piece and has an attached underplate.  the loop on the lid is pressed, not applied.  There is remnants of an old gold decoration where the underplate meets the vertical sides of the base (sort of looks like dirt in the photo).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Some of you who are members from other email groups may have seen me post these photos before, but I have never posted them to this group.  You just never know when someone might know!!
here is the link to the marmalade:

Hi There
Not quite sure how i ended up with this. I have just got a new computer and this id request suddenly appeared in my inbox, as i know the answer i thought the least I could do was help out, i know its years since i have been on here due to other projects.
The 'marmalade is in fact a covered honey made by Edward moore and shown in their 1870 catalogue. Dave if you want a copy of the catalogue pic email me and I will send.
The sugar and cream look vaugly familiar and to be honest wouldnt suprise me if they were also e moore.
Regards
Rod

The shape of the jug and the suger looks a bit like this set, but different.  ::)
