Title: Strange jade slag glass square flower dish - is it new or old?
Post by: Decolucretia on May 22, 2007, 06:09:12 AM
This item has also been sitting patiently on the 'glass mystery shelf' and I'm not getting any closer to identifying it.  It's about 9cm across and 7.5cm tall.  I can see four mould lines (on each of the corners) and it looks like there is a shiny top layer (darker green) - though this might just be an illusion.  Has an Art Nouveau look about it but I wondered if it was in fact new?  Is there any way to tell.  Grateful for any help  :)

that is a  very queer colour. I had a similar one in clear with a lid, so it is a sugar and I always assumed it was Portieux/ Valérysthal... but cannot place that colour there.

The 'finish' is very similar to the Portieux pieces I've seen on ebay (with the more translucent casing / finish) - I agree - the colour is very strange and one I haven't come across before.  The moulding is quite sharp down to the detail on the leaves.  I would never have guessed that it was a sugar - thanks for your help.
