Title: Emmanuel Babled
Post by: Sklounion on June 07, 2007, 12:07:24 PM
I thought people might like to see the work of Emmanuel Babled, the French designer, whose designs are being made by Venini.

These are collectables of the future, but I suspect current prices put them out of my reach.
But I'll enjoy them anyway.
Regards,
Marcus

These are collectibles of the future...

I wonder, they are probably over 10,000 Euros a piece. There is quite a volume of Glass Art being created today and much of it is surely destined for total obscurity? Even relatively scarce pieces from the early days of the Studio Glass Movement are not getting dramatic prices and often only a fraction of the cost of a comparable new creation.

Thanks for sharing that Marcus - I agree I think they're absolutely brilliant, right up my street.

Well I was going to say that they remind me of "Homes of the Future" illustrations from 1950s/60s magazines, and then I went to the second page of pictures.... and they are!

(I hadn't actually read the exhibition name at this point, typically)
