Hi everyone,
My mum bought this vase at a local auction recently, it was sold as Whitefriars but I have since been informed that it is not Whitefriars. I was wondering if anyone could identify it please? Any information would be really helpful. It is just under 8" tall and 4" in diameter with a ground and polished pontil. Many thanks. Janet.

it looks like mdina

:D Hi Janet, I don't think it looks anything like Mdina or Whitefriars. I'm afraid I think I've seen these in TKMaxx, but also in Lewis in Edinburgh. It might well be modern Polish. Is there any age-related wear to the base? How is the base finished off?
Cheers, Sue

Thankyou very much for all your comments, you have been very helpful. What a great website this is!
Sue, I think you may be correct when you say the vase looks fairly recent. I have examined the base more closely and there is very little in the way of age related wear. However it does feel like a quality peice to me, and rather unusual. I'll have to do some research into your Polish theory Sue. Thanks again for all your help.
Kind regards, Janet.
