Hi, I have just aquired some glassware and I think it might be American depression glass, but by whom I don't know.
The first is pink with flowers on

and I got two cups and two plates.
The other is clear with a funny basket-weave type edge, and flower decoration.

This one seems older and has some "metal" in the glass.
Now I know as much about depression glass as I do the craters on the moon, so I do need help and advice please

Hi BJB, Your cup and saucer is Mayfair also known as "Open rose" it was made by Hocking glass co. in 1931-1937. A few pcs of this pattern have been reproduced, but to my knowledge not the cup and saucer. So yes definately American depression.
Your other piece I am afraid I am not familiar with at all and maybe someone else will have some info. Terry

Hi Terry,
many thanks for the info on the pink ones. Such a lovely colour, very pale rose.
I did wonder if the clear one might be British, and a bit earlier, possibly Sowerby?
Now know a little more, this board is so very helpful.
