Hi, I was bidding on this eBay Archimede Seguso as I recall the piece as having a known story behind it.
Unfortunately I have completely forgotten what the word for what it depicts is. I tried bollard but that's not exactly similar?
I have also forgotten the story of the piece, I think it was comissioned by a yachting club or something similar?
Can anyone help refresh a befuddled mind ? ;)
Item 300130745719
thanks

It is a bollard, which come in a variety of styles. I have the same vague memory as you that something like this was commissioned by a yacht club. I think the item was signed and on eBay earlier this year.

Thanks to both of you :)
Not always easy for a poor viking to navigate the english language.
This thing with the yacht club is really bugging me, when I saw this up for auction now I
instantly remembered it, and the "comissioned item" part, I think there were several pieces for a US
club or regatta? I can't find anything about it now tho.
It's a very nice piece, simple but very pleasing to the eye.
It discovered it about 15 mins before the auction ended and in my exitement I hit a wrong button and lost the bidding.
So I hope for another one :)
I collect paperweights and murano glass so a A.S. paperweight/sculpture fits the bill.

Alexander, glad to be able to help if only in a small way. :) I'm constantly impressed by the language skills of our non-English board members who put my poor second language learning to shame. :-[
