Hi,
Bought this frosted comport bowl today. Lovely blue. Im taking a guess that its not modern. Its 13.5cm high x 12.5cm wide. Heavy bowl.
Does anyone know of the maker? And should it have a lid? Ive seen a few in my search similar and a few had lids. Im not even sure of the use as Ive seen a lot of frosted bowls that are flower float bowls. Any help very much appreciated.

This pattern is King's Crown, and it was originally an EAPG pattern, but has been reproduced by Tiffin and Indiana. Yours is definitely later, but whether it's Tiffin or Indiana I don't know. You might be able to contact the owner of this site for more. http://www.geocities.com/kings_crown/index.html

Not at all, Selina. Two in a day is a fluke!

I have a gorgeous Carnival version of this - again with no lid. They are known as wedding bowls in this shape and size apparently. http://yobunny.org.uk/gallery1/displayimage.php?pos=-186

Anne,
I dont usually like carnival glass as a rule but those bowls are gorgeous. Glass is so addictive. You think you will just stick with one type and then another catches your eye! I also put it under a blacklight, the blue bowl and it glows green..just lightly. So not sure if its uranium in it or if its too late a bowl for that.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the irridised versions were Tiffin, but I can't remember where or why. There's also some rule of thumb about the shape of the thumb prints. The owner of the website would know more anyway.

Trudy if it only glows lightly then it doesn't contain uranium, more likely manganese
