Title: pretty pale green vaseline vase / tumbler
Post by: josordoni on August 24, 2007, 12:05:56 PM
This is pretty... does anyone have any idea of where it might have been made?

It shines nice and bright lime green under UV, would it be described as vaseline, or just opal?

If I was selling it, i would list it as a light lime green custard opaque uranium glass.  Opalescent is generally a spot pattern, or near the top of the piece and this is the same color top to bottom.

regards
Mr. Vaseline Glass (who has no clue who made it)

Thanks MVG, custard glass... great term... I hadn't thought of that one.

No, it isn't opalescent, and it isn't opague either, it is actually translucent - I was searching here for the thread that had the definitions of opal/opalescent etc. and can't find it.... I think it might be opal?

Goodness only knows  ;D ;D

Sad we don't know who might have made it, question then is, do you actually like it??  8)

I think Ivo's term is the most accurate.  I like it and saw that it was up for auction.  However, it really does not fit into my current collection.  It is always nice to see more uranium glass, though.
