Title: Green hand vases marked "M S"

Many thanks to David & Leni for drawing my attention to, & helping me to win these interesting Victorian hand vases. :)
The interesting part is that they are both marked on their bases with a moulded mark reading "M S".
In between the letters is a stylized half-length figure.
The vases are mould blown opaque green glass.
I have searched through all my books that feature glass markings without luck. Does anyone recognize it?
It will be a real breakthrough for my research into hand vase manufacturers.

Marinka, I've searched and searched (as I'm sure you have!) but been unable to find this mark! :huh:  The only thoughts I have are that the figure appears to have a pompadour hairstyle, so perhaps it's a French mark?  Or Mosser made Jadeite glass - but in that case I don't know what the S would stand for!  And it's clearly an M with a dot after and and S with a dot after, isn't it?  I'm stumped!  :-\

thanks for your efforts, it really is quite a distinctive mark, isn't it? I'm amazed that I haven't been able to find it in any of my books, & especially that no-one else seems to have a clue either! :huh:
I too was thinking of a French origin for these vases, & you're right, the figure in the mark does have a Pompadour hairstyle.\
I'd love to find out who made these vases! Any help would be greatly appreciated...it's all in the name of research (& not so I can flog them on Ebay after I get an I.D like some users of this board do... >:()

Marinka, the top of the green hand vase almost looks like it has been removed. It looks like it should have something more...like a ruffle or something. It ceratinly is unqiue, esepcially with that mark.
