Title: Unusual Victorian Vase pattern...any views?
Post by: selina on September 23, 2007, 12:49:42 PM
Hi,

Finally found my way back to the board after installing all my programs etc on the new computer.

I got this small vase today. I think its Victorian..however the overlay pattern is unusual. Is this an old style pattern or something that was added later? Any thoughts appreciated.

That looks like coralene decoration to me - tiny beads of glass that were either glued on (on cheaper output) or heat fixed on. I would say probably continental Europe rather than England or the US and perfectly genuine period decoration. Yours looks to be glued. Thoughts and info from the Big Book of Vaseline Glass Barrie Skelcher

Thanks Christine :) I had a look with the magnifying glass once I read that and where there are some missing there are indents (mini craters :) ) in the glass. You can feel it as well. So Im guessing they were heat fixed to the glass. I appreciate you went to the trouble to find that for me. And Im glad I didnt attempt to wash it off!!
