Hiya,
I had hoped that I could figure this one out myself;I've not give up....I've just got lost!
It has a white interior and it's decorated with mallards, harebells, bullrushes and anemone so I've been assuming that it is English given the subject matter, however, perhaps I am heading in the wrong direction completely.
Maybe someone knows,
Many thanks,
Elaine.
P.S. There is no mark stamped or painted on the bottom.
-
Is that hand painted or decals?
-
Hiya,
It's handpainted and hard;It can't be removed from the glass body of the flask. The pink colour also deepens as you look from bottom to top but it's not a big change of colour,as in peachblow. The whole body has a 'glassy' finish rather than matt and tilting it to the light shows concentric circles to the base. There is a tool mark on the bottom too.
I've trawled the internet,I've bought appropriate books (Amazon have made a small fortune out of me!) and visited even more museums but still feel no further forward except perhaps to say that the Harrach mark is not a propeller...LOL! So,at least I know that now...if not a lot else ;D
I've looked at Webb,Harrach and Stevens & Williams and I've searched through generic French & Bohemian enamelled glass images but I am left confused when many similar pieces have polished pontils or painted/printed marks and my one doesn't.
I've also been toying with the idea that this may be the lower section of a lamp but, again,it is just an hypothesis and can find no evidence to prove or disprove it.

It's beautiful. What's the rim like and can we have a photo of the base please
-
Hiya,
It is absolutely gorgeous and completely unlike anything else I have but,for tonight,I think I have to shelf my research;Apparently there are more urgent matters to hand as Narnia is just coming on the TV and both my little boys are claiming to be unable to watch it without Fish,Chips & Irn Bru !?!?! I think I'm a soft touch! Must go.Will post pic soon as poss,
All the Best,
Elaine

definitely English, I recognise the colour and technique - but have no clue as to who made it.
-
Hiya,
Pics of base & rim.Sorry if the images are not so good...I love natural light for photos but in Scotland today the sky was filled with black clouds, speared with shafts of dazzlingly bright sunshine and torrential downpours which made taking pics outside impossible.
Hopefully these will be OK.

Hi Elaine,
Its really similar to the one I have and posted about..

My gold has worn off the rim and your colour and painting is a different theme but they are very similar. Even to the dotted pattern.

The trouble with these handpainted vases is that so many companies did them. I would trust Ivo's instincts. The round shape also doesn't seem to be a common Czech one
-
Last year I handled a hyacinth vase with same colour same decoration and even same bottom; the vase had an unmistakably English model and could not have originated elsewhere. For me, that is conclusive.
-
Ivo,
I completely agree with you.I also feel that it is English and it is where I will continue to concentrate my search.
Many thanks everyone,
Elaine.
P.S. Carolyn,You're welcome to come for Fish & chips anytime....just bring your own Irn Bru ;D
