Title: Scandinavian? Ariel?
Post by: jal on October 27, 2007, 06:44:11 PM
Hello,  any advice on this piece of glass I have purchased  please. It looks scandinavian, and very much like an ariel piece. It certainly had a lot of work, by a skilled artist to make it.  It is 5 3/4" tall & 5" diam. at the top. It is cobalt blue glass, with some  grey & lighter blue added. It has been ground before being blown, and each ground area has been pricked to leave an air bubble. It has had a cobalt blue strap laid around the top rim,and has a clear base, with tiny air bubbles throughout. It has a flat base with concave ground pontil. There is no writing, or printing on it.  It is a lovely item, which is why I bought it, but would love to know who made it, etc.   Regards, John.

I think it's German, Eisch

If you want a companion piece, try this item 290174533109 on Ebay (post number into ebay box at top of page)

:hiclp:   Many thanks for that.   I think Eisch Glas is the answer.  May now have to buy the piece on e-bay to match.
