I bought this in a charity shop yesterday, thought it might be useful to paperweight collectors as it is boxed and labeled.

Ohhh good thinking Sue, thanks for that. We need labelled examples to be able to pick these out when unlabelled.

I probably have about twenty or so labelled chinese weights. I only kept the labelled ones from Dad's collection. I thought they might prove useful from an identification point of view at some point!
Anne, any thoughts of setting up a page/pages for these items??
I also had a Korean 'mabrie' with a label - label has now gone missing... Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!

I think that's a great idea. We have GlassGallery and can add open albums for such projects as required. There's a Paperweights album there now, but if it would be better I can add a separate Chinese paperweights one that anyone can add images to for specifically labelled Chinese weights. What do you think?

To be included in that album, must the paperweights have a sticker?

It can be stickered or boxed or otherwise confirmed as Chinese... I have two weights which have been id'd as Chinese on the board but they aren't stickered, so I'm open to suggestions as to how we deal with such items.

Hmm.
I have a fair number of weights that I know are Chinese, but are neither boxed or stickered. I had an idea of collecting pictures of Chinese canes to help people in identifying their stuff. This is especially important now that the Chinese are trying their hand at more complex canes. They're making cane bundles now.
Perhaps images of Chinese weights that have been stickered as Murano would be helpful too.

I have images of about 40 modern Chinese weights on my website, the pictures being taken from a Chinese factory website about 18 months ago. I did find another Chinese factory page with lots of millefiori paperweights that looked just like some you buy in Murano (incredibly similar...), but I couldn't copy any decent quality images. I asked about prices, and was quoted from 50 cents to US $ 3.00 per piece (depending upon design), plus shipping, provided I took a crate of 300 similar items.
