Corroso Glass Dog Signed Fero (?) Is it a Flavio Poli for Seguso?

Hello!

I'm new here. I loaded some pictures to your GlassGallery site.
Here is the link.......

This dog figure measures approx. 7-8 long and weighs approx. 3-4 lbs.

I did post this on the eBay Pottery, Glass & Porcelain discussion board a few
week ago. Here is the link. The pictures are better in that thread, if you care to
look there.
Signed Studio GLASS Doxie or Bassett Hound Dog. Murano? Scandinavian?

I did find out that the surface treatment is called corroso, which was very helpful
and searching with that key word led me to an auction of a very similar glass
animal that was also signed Fero on the bottom, but signature was not pictured.
The seller seems very knowledgeable. Is the attribution correct?

Does anyone know who or what FERO means? All I can find is that it means 'iron'
in Italian, or is part of a gondola boat, or street names in Venice.

Thankyou!

I do not know who made your dog. Ferro (with two r's) is a famous family of Italian glass makers, but I do not recognize the signature. It may be one of them, however. I found a similar piece of corroso (eBay item  160117379109). The fish in this listing also has some scratched letters on bottom, but I don't know if it is a signature. I must mention that the label in this auction was over-interpreted.

Many companies did corroso work. Much of it has the same general appearance. I would not be surprised if your dog was made by one of the Ferro companies. They did (and are doing) a great variety of things.

Pardon the resurrection of an old thread. There is another dog signed Fero on eBay right now. I wondered if these pieces could be made by Shane Fero of the USA. Fero's internet site is at www.shanefero.net. Most of his lampworked pieces have a Venetian flavor. He teaches some at the Pilchuck school. I wouldn't be surprised if he made these Venetian-flavored pieces.
