Sue,
I would imagine its 1860-1880, i think Stourbridge, maybe Stevens williams , Richardsons,
nice quality with the facet cut neck, without stopper, its 9 inches tall ,just under a kilo.
Regards andy
(ps stopper is hollow and i think is definitely the original, all perfect)

pps its called a shaft-and-globe decanter

Thank's Andy, i really like the optical effect this decantor has , with the thumb print cut and facet neck.

S&W 6558 service (http://www.glasscatalogue.com/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/253b99d237f0f98398756cfa6033aebe.jpg) courtesy Glass-Study

But no reason body shape did not get a different decoration and a different code! This one was in an 1890's catalogue and the neck is cut in a very similar way. It is a much older shape.

If you can find a stopper slightly oversized you can get it ground and polished in or in the trade stoppered.if you get one too small it will never look right.
