Hi, yet another auction find. They are a bit of a confection, and sadly they both have had a foot repaired (that I didn't see when buying them, same old story for me), but I wondered where they might be from and when. I'm guessing Italian and 1950s because they look post war frivolous but I'd welcome any more informed input (or even not so informed).
Thanks, iain

More likely Bohemian 1890s thru to 1930s or even English Victorian

Gosh, really as old as that?! And here's me thinking such exuberance was a modern phenomenon!
Thanks for such a quick response.

To keep them company, here's another (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pid=8888&fullsize=1) of the same type.
The rim of mine is "typically" formed in the "Eurpoean" style being simply flat sliced off. Also, the foot, being formed out of a single section applied over the underside of the base is generally regarded by many as being "European" rather than English.
The pinch work is very much late Victorian in style but the use of yellow colouring and the loose covering in silver fleck might suggest early 20th century.

In Bohemia in the early 20th C they used some fabulous bright colours (think Tango) and created some very 'modern' designs but they also stuck with the late 19th C designs - some updated with new colours some not - because they sold

Thanks for all that good information. And it's good to know that my pair have a cousin somewhere. I might try them on Ebay in the new year, but they are growing on me so who knows, they might stay out on view. Regards, Iain

Here is an old-style vase with a 'modern' twist' as an example of what I mean! 1930s Bohemian I believe, orange with a clear-cased base and reheated uranium trim
