Hiya,
This is my market find vase. Marked WMF on the base and the insert appears to be the original. Ive read WMF did make glass items too? Im wondering about the age of it. Of course it seems to me to be Art Nouveau and a great find. Can anyone confirm for me or tell me any more about it?
TIA
Selina

Is this a vase? I answered your query on the Pottery board re: date etc but I assumed that the base of the glass insert was open and that it was a hurricane lamp... Well, anyway, judging from the style of decoration to the metal base I'd say it's late 19th/early 20th century.

The base is either silver, pewter or plated base metal with pewter being the most likely. Quite a few books cover these, so perhaps a trip to the library if no one here can ID it.

Hi Selina, i posted this on the pottery board too, but perhaps you missed it. www.silvercollection.it/WMF.html

Thanks all.
Pip, the base is closed so I assumed it was a vase. Its electroplated as it has WMF EP 1/10 Then another number imprinted on the base.
Havent been to the pottery board again yet but I'll check out that website.

It looks like some kind of bulb vase. Would it take a hyacinth bulb? Or it could be a lily vase. And I believe WMF did make glass around the right period

WMF glassworks were opened in 1883 in Geislingen.
