Title: Antonio Daros / Murano art glass
Post by: anniet on January 08, 2008, 02:49:48 AM
Hi,  I want to learn as much as I can about Antonio Daros because I just received an amazing vase with matching candlesticks.  They are red with the green vaseline glass.  All three are marked A. Da Ross (not Ros) Murano 1967.  Has anyone ever heard of Antonio signing it Da Ross?  I have not seen anything like them esp. the candlesticks.  Anyone know of any Auctions or sites that specialize in Murano vintage glass?  thanks.

Mod: Name spelling corrected to Daros.

The colour sounds right. You might want to post pictures, which would help people here. One site that show a few Da Ros pieces is http://www.design-and-arts.com in Germany. From what I can make out, the pieces are signed Cenedese, but not Da Ros. He started with Cenedese around 1957 and was still there in 2002, so the date is OK.

Hi Anniet,
Personally I havent handled any pieces actually signed A. Da Ross (or Ros), but have had a few made by him come my way.
I think Laura would also be of help here....
Can you post some photos of your pieces?
Thanks
Javier

See topic http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,7175.msg60820/topicseen.html#msg60820 for notes on Cenedese signatures by Laura. Ed.

If you were to post pictures of the items, it's likely that someone on this board would be able to identify the pieces as being Da Ros or not Da Ros.

Hi Anniet I'm Antonio Daros's son. My family name is Daros and not Da Ros as wrongly reported everywhere. Anyaway I can tell for sure that my father as never signed a single piece so either that is a fake or somebodyelse as signed it for him at the time . If you post the pics or send them to me (mastropicchio atsign yahoo.it) I can always show them to my father and he is definetly gonna tell you if they are real or not.

Hi Mr Daros,
how kind of you to post on our board, you are very welcome,
I apologise that no one thanked you on here for your extremely useful information , as is the
normal polite policy, i believe the original question came from a new member, who only ever posted this
one question.
I have a lovely Uranium Fish, and a bit of googling, looking at a few books, and checking old posts on this board,
made me think it may possibly be your Fathers work,
its in this thread,
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,32679.0.html
Could i post you a picture to show your Father if you think there is a chance it is his?
Or can you show him pictures from the above link?
Thanks ,
and again, apologies if you heard nothing last time,
Regards
Andy

hi there
it is funny how these things happen all at the same time, i posted a fish on here some time back, (ive just realised it had a reply on that i hadnt seen before) ive just this morning bought a copy of Italian glass by Leslie Pina and on page 212 is a fish very very similar to my own, which we now believe also may be your fathers work
I would be very grateful if you could take a peek at mine too
