Does anyone know how to tell the old Adams Kings Crown from the newer made by Tiffin?

Hello:

The short and long answer to your question is to study the various makers and the specific items each made in this long lived pattern.  Take every opportunity to pick up and examine pieces at antique shows and when visiting collectors.  After a while you will be able to tell the differences from across the room.  A good reference to get started with is Monograph No. 22 from the West Virginia Museum of American Glass which can be found on this page:
