Hi
This vase is huge (about 11" or so) with a quilted effect.
The base has gold inclusions - a bit odd because they can't be seen.
Can anyone please help me with a what and when?
Thanks

Hi Sue,
I can't positively ID this, but I have seen various Italian/Murano pieces with this type of base and gold aventurine. I haven't seen one this size though!
Ideally this needs moving to the general 'Glass' area by a mod.

Thanks, David
I'm afraid its a wee bit ugly!

I know what you mean! These are also seen with raspberry prunts and are probably dated to the 1950s. The following link is an advert from Pottery Gazette & Glass Trade Review, June 1951, which shows a fan ('fag') vase. The trail of clear glass on the top is very similar to the item I have, which is also ruby glass, with the quilted impression and 'aventurine' (which I think I'm mistaken using the term, as the gilt appears to be on the surface)

Still can't help with the maker though.

Thanks again
I love the fag vase  with the old untipped cigarettes in it!
