I have one of these and I bought it new throught the N.A.A.F.I (British Forces shop) in 1982 when I was stationed in Germany, although I have seen them described as 'Art Deco' on many Ebay listings.

I remember I paid about £3 for mine.
Will dig mine out, but I am sure it is marked FRANCE too.

Sorry, Gilead, I should have been clearer.  :spls2: That is the maker and, yes, they were made in their thousands, but the fact that you like it is all that counts at the end of the day.  ;D

Hi again,
Have had a look at mine and it has the number 17 on it  ;D
Like you, I like the look of these and it is one of the most useful vases I have ever purchased - brilliant for spring flowers such as daffodils and tulips! and has been in consistent use in my house for over 20 years.

Thank you Della for the ID - I didn't know who had made it.

The number on the bottom is the mould number; these vases were produced in quite stunning quantities. Arc (as they are now called)  is the single largest glass producer in the world making more than a million items PER DAY!

There is one of these vases in every charity shop in England!
In the Millers 20th C Glass by Andy McConnell there is a picture, its a Windsor Rubis vase,
1970s several sizes. By J G Durand, the worlds largest glassworks. Brand names are,
of course, Luminarc and Cristal D'arques ;D

Cheers
