Title: Re: "Cranberry. Did I get it right - or not?
Post by: turnip45 on February 21, 2008, 08:13:59 PM
Picked up this "Victorian Cranberry Urn" at the auction in the hope that I may have "got it right" re: Cranberry.
Please correct me if I am wrong.  The two images are with and without flash to give you some idea of the colour. which to me is rosy pink.  The urn is very impressive standing 22 cm's high and just as wide at the brim.  Totally different to what I am used to but it's growing on me.  Can anyone out there explain whether it was just one manufacturer who made Cranberry or many that made there own version and if so, who do you reckon is responsible for my recent acquisition and maybe a year?  Thanks!

It's cranberry, and lots of factories made and still make cranberry-coloured glass. What's the base like?

The base is slightly concave (no pontil) similar to the base of a Whitefriar "Tear Bud Vase".

Just bumping this back up for more thoughts... it looks familiar and I can't think why?
