Title: Blown Glass Vase With Random Bubbles and Applied & Pincered Decoration
Post by: Mosquito on February 22, 2008, 07:25:39 PM
Another mystery piece which I've purchased recently. It is a blown glass vase in pale green. The body is decorated with a pattern of large random bubbles and there are applied and pincered frills/ handles to either side. The pincered handles show an unusual tool mark with a raised circular centre and a horizontal ribbed pattern. The base has a large, circular, neatly snapped pontil mark.

The vase measures approximately 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) tall.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Steven

Hi Steven, I may be way off here but on my monitor this colour is very like the glass I'm seeing from Spain, it's that sort of recycled green tint...  is that a good colour match or not?

Hello Anne,

Yes, the colour does look very similar, though I don't have any pieces here to compare it with.  it could well be recycled glass, though I've never seen Spanish recycled glass in this style with the random bubble decoration.

Me neither Steven, they are usually plainer without the frilly bits, although some of my bits had smaller seeds in but yours look more intentional!  :)  We'll keep looking.
