hi, I just got this. It has a foil label on it, and the other mark. How old id it, or is it new? I bought it at an auction for a couple bucks (??). Anyone can tell me anything about it.....anything....and do you want label at all for gallery? Hope it was worth the two bucks...lol. :spls2: TIA

Yes, it is Rosenthal Studio glass. I don't think Rosenthal has been marketing glass for more than 20 years or so. BTW, production has been shut down and they are having a big closeout sale.

If you see their prices you get a mega-bargain... or you realise what the second market value is ;D

did you see this vase in there, and it was not in English, so was not sure where you meant....and as for prices, were those in euros or what -- Sorry, but I do not know the exchange/difference in money....as in the second market value....THXs

Made in Germany indicates it was made after the wall came down. So made after c.1990.

Rose, the closeout site I referred to just had an email link, no gallery.

Rosenthal= German Waterford,
and now owned by Waterford Wedgwood (not sure if wholly or part)

Not sure where the rumour came from that Rosenthal is no more - but http://www.rosenthal.de/ seems to be going strong - since 1879. Their modern tableware- and glass designs have been on the market since "Studio-Haus" was founded in 1960 - before that they had more traditional designs. As far as I know the "Made in Germany" was used long before the wall came down - and pre-1945 of course.

Hi, so now I am wondering *if* this is older or not. The label is foil also -- if that makes any difference, or not :spls: It is just a simple design, or is there a name for it. TIA

If their glassmarks are similar to the porcelain marks 1956 - present?

Thanks Alexander, Great site there....
Gosh, some of them are so similiar -- and I was going cross-eyed (XX) trying to tell. There is no line under mine, now whether that was applied poorly, or wore off, I do not know. I would guess, maybe the one 1957 to present....but it is still tough to tell. The Crown seems to be a bit larger, the *R* kinda swirls a bit under the next letter.....still tough to tell. I will look again tommorrow in daylight, as it is 4:00 a.m. here right now, so my eyes are a little tired too.. :-\

Hi Rose, here are a couple of images of my modern Rosenthal bow.

God, it is so hard to tell.....yours still looks more finer than mine. The curve of the *R* in mine seems to be a bit thicker....and the *h* in mine seems to have a bit thicker back too. The Crown on yours seems, much more finer, clearer, and delicate....mine seems to be a bit thicker...unless yours is bigger print, and because this is smaller...
My eyes are crossed eyed right now -- it is almost 5;00 am here...I best get sleep, and look again tomorrow...
Sue, is yours signature quite bid.....like an inch, or smaller....
Anyways night here, and I'll catch up tommorrow...... :sleep: :sleep: :sleep:
