Title: Scandinavian, German, Swiss Vase?
Post by: Matcha on February 26, 2008, 10:23:19 PM
Hi,
I wonder if anyone will recognize this vase.
It came from a European house with a lot of mid-century design, but other than that no clues.

Thanks very much!

What does it sound like when you tap it? Is it glass or is it Crystal?

It has a nice sustained melodic tone when tapped. Thanks.

That does not really help me. If you would have said enthusiatically "Top quality lead crystal, well finished" I would have pointed you at Leerdam (Linssen, 1970s) . But as is, it could be semicrystal from Poland or the Czech republic, or even glass from one of the Swiss works (Thun).  There is no substitute to physical handling for this one.

Hmmm.
Seems I don't know enough to be helpful and will have to put it in some knowledgeable person's hands and try to learn something then.
Thanks to everybody.
