Recently acquired a 1955 Per Lütken slumped vase - thought it might be of interest.
In Lütken's 'Glas Er Liv' the production method is described:
"Mouth-blown, reheated. flared, reheated, rolled out flat - upside down and the glass folds itself out into a bowl, guided by the glassmaker's movements."

Very interesting. Looks very much like Chance's first attempt, c.1955, with ruby- and blue-flashed models, plus a Swirl decorated one, all using a circular shape.
The more identifiable Chance handkerchief shape, slumped from a square sheet, started from 1956.
How long was Holmegaard making these for, Nic?

Actually, this is the first one from this period that I've seen, and I'm lacking the relevant catalogue pages for exact dates. I would guess, judging by the lack of them on the market, that they would only have been in production for maybe 1-3 years.
The form was put back into production again in 1986 using smoked glass and opal glass, and this ran through until 1990.
In 'Glas Er Liv' there are some sketches of what appear to be slumped 'handkerchief' forms with horizontal ribbing dating back to July 1950, and with violet swirls in March 1954.
