Hi, I just bought this, and have no idea (but do I ever). It is quite large, and has bubbles that get bigger towards the top. Also has like gold flakes (?) on the outer ruffled edge. The bottom appears to show wear. Not sure if you call this ruby red, or not.... :spls:
Anyone have any ideas on maker, and year? TIA

thanks David for those links...GREAT....maybe this is that -- but not sure, I posted here just in the *Glass* page for now -- maybe this topic should be moved over to Murano......I guess the MOD will deciide..
:)
And a bit off this topic:
And I note in the GG ( http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-9189 ) your ad for venetian glass, there is a pix there of a lamp with a swirled base....prehaps I can attach that link over to my posting Murano Figurine with swirled base

So what is the opinion here on this - might be Murano?? And would this be older?? Thxs, as always..
-
As the threads allude to: probably 1950s Venetian, possibly made in Murano. It might take months or even years before we find a definite conclusion, and there do seem to be many makers/copyists around (as always), which does confuse the issue.
-
Thanks David ...
I thought this might be Venetian myself, but posted it here first....so the hunt (research) is on, as usual....lol

Hi, I just found this picture of this *Blue* glass bowl here -- and it (sort of) reminded me of my *Red* glass bowl posted here....
Ebay: 120246773411  Does the idea look similiar? For dating purpose? TIA
-
*polite bump*
I should take better photos for this bowl....I just may. Anyways I found this. If my photos were better, you (might) see some similarities....maybe??

hmmm....the bubbles are spaced differently and the eBay listing has some stretched bubbles too.
Also I lined to two pics of the bases up and again they are not the same almost different style.
Sorry if its not helpful

I think you could find quite a few similar pieces without ever getting a very definite attribution. Your bowl looks more deeply lobed, which might account for the different looking bottom. It looks like Murano, but that's about all that can be suggested. If the piece from the Vancouver seller, 120246773411, gets anywhere near $175, I have a whole bunch of glass that's going on eBay immediately!

I found what looks like a little brother of Rose's piece except mine has no bubbles!
This one is triangular, has a Cobalt blue body, spiral twist ribbed underneath. clear frilly rim with gold inclusions. Size is 80mm from corner to corner, height 30mm. Some age wear to the base. No maker's mark.
Suggestions as to origin/maker/age welcome, thank you. :)

Welcome to the Family...lol :chky:
Does look like a *baby* brother to mine (or a sister...) NICE. The edging looks similar too. :hiclp: We will have to get down to figure out their family roots, age, maker, etc...if possible...lol
-
Here's mine....I didn't get any replies though! Might as well try and group them together a bit... :)

Yup, looks like it is related. One big family of unknowns. :'( Great to see yours too. Gee Max, your bottom :spls: looks almost identical...bottom of the bowl, that is...
Does yours have any bubbles, or not??
Anything similiar here?? http://www.trocadero.com/moltabellaglass/items/442474/item442474.html
-
Well Max, does your bottom have any bubbles ?
-
Oooh no. My bottom is bubble-less. ;)
I've filed my bowl under 'indeterminate Italian'. I'd like it to be Barovier or something, but although it's really well made, it's hard to guarantee a maker. :-\

I did find this link..... http://www.goantiques.com/scripts/images,id,1451893.html#image4
And it seems to have some *similarities to the ones posted here* in this section.....but then I could be wrong also.
After all - I wear glasses... lol :-\
