Title: Glass figures pair possibly Barovier and Toso ? Or Not, opinions please.
Post by: OUFOOL on March 02, 2008, 05:14:38 PM
Hi all,
i would very much appreciate your opinions on the pair of  figures i have just bought
They are about 12 inches tall, the main body of glass being amber
and the applied detailing in clear with gold leaf inclusions. No signatures unfortunately.

Hi, I too have been trying to research my figurine posted here.  I am not sure whom made yours, but I thought I would post this link (click here) (http://www.goantiques.com/search/search_results.jsp?keywords=figurines+glass&accountNumber=QGR9089&showMoreOptions=N&channel=&category=&priceRange=&when=&itemType=) of 4 pages of some examples of figures.

Hope this may help, and you enjoy viewing these  :)

Tanks for the reply Rose,
I had a look at the link you posted and was suprised at how similar the third figuers are
"Pair of Glass "Renaissance" Figurines by Franco Toffol"
I think that they may well be by the same hand, the bases are the same and the style of manufacture and tooling techniques.
Im sure somone on these boards will be able to possitively confirm or dispute.
 Many thanks Scott.

Can be deceptive: Franco Toffolo was actually working in Blackpool for some time, at the Venetian Glass Company. He then worked in Scotland - see Frank's site for more details:

I can't comment on what Toffolo's output was while at Blackpool, but someone else is sure to know.
