As a suggestion, you could purchase large sheets (say A2) of paper in white, light-grey, mid-blue and black. Only cost about £1.50 per sheet from a craft shop. Could also get deep-red if you're feeling daring.

These vases would look much better if taken on a white sheet, with the paper curving up gently towards the back. If you can use the daylight through a window to illuminate the object, to try and prevent the flash from kicking in. Also move the object towards the front edge of the paper. This should help with your photos.

Have searched on the net about this vase and saw one that was a bit like it, but was Whitefriars, i think this ruby vase is called Tricorn due to it's 3 sides, still not got any idea by whom and what year? though,

Scotland, England, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Czechoslovakia  c., Portugal, Italy, probably most of the rest. Lots inspired by Angus Sillars 1972 lamp base design under whose name the vases also appear on eBay regardless of the label in the ten years  I have been tracking s name.  ::)
