Title: Murano Label
Post by: sandymae on March 05, 2008, 11:24:30 PM
Has anyone any idea who used this label  I've had a few bowls with the label, and all have been very similar in shape, and have had the tips curled either pointed up or down. One was a huge bowl, but unfortunalty arrrived in pieces.

I have a sommerso solifleur in subdued clear/blue/green with this label,
i would be very interested to find out who made it :)

I've always suspected an accomplished maker but have been unable to find this label anywhere.

I've seen the label on a few pieces, but with not with a clear attribution. The same label in different colours is on two bowls for sale at Modernist Glass. Both bowls have two labels, this one and another. On one bowl the other label is the shield shaped label with a rooster and Murano on it; the other label on the second piece is the gold on red oval scalloped "Genuine Venetian Glass" label (not the Archimede Seguso one). The url is http://www.modernistglass.com/glasspieces/view/2362.

All this leads to me to wonder if the label in question is a generic export/import label, which, unfortunately, takes us no closer to the manufacturer of this piece.
