Title: blue vase partial iridescent "ostrich-mark"
Post by: lowersaxony on March 10, 2008, 04:53:26 PM
Hi all, flea market found of yesterday - and i need help to id this:

it's a really nice piece - blue glass, onlaid decor under colorless overlay. partial iridescent glass. the pontil is stamped with a "ostrich-mark" like WMF but mirror inverted and in an emblem. I thought about "Eisch"(Germany) but I've never seen such mark on the base...

 ;) THX! Kevin from Germany

Hi Kevin,

The characteristics of the piece suggest WMF to me. The way the colours are laid in and the thickness, etc. However, I have never seen this marking to the base of a piece of WMF. Can't make out the irridescence you mention though!

Hi Nigel, thanks for your help!
Hmmmm, it's not really iridescence - it's more a iridescence inlay in the final clear glass (pic2) "sorry hard to describe for a German"
and there is this rough pontil with this stamped emblem-mark. what do you think about the age?

Looks like silver chloride.
