Title: LAMPBASE ID PLEASE.
Post by: PAUL H on March 19, 2008, 07:41:52 PM
Hi.. Does anyone recognise this lampbase the dealer said Murano but I'm not sure. There are no labels or signatures
to help it is 200mm in height. Paul

Not seen them in that colour before but it is almost certainly the same source as the vase and lamp base shown here:

4th row two centre images. http://www.ysartglass.com/Ysart/NotYsart.htm

The two main contenders for these are American Union Glass or Bohemia. As so many new styles have appeared in the last 6 or 7 years this would tend to indicate a post WW2 period of production, but 30's remains possible. Once the maker is identified, 20years since I first saw them, these will skyrocket in value as they are well made and have an interesting range of shapes. You will find a few more posted in other threads on this forum.

Thanks for the info Frank.. I didn't think it was Murano, I'm planing to wire and rig it up with a
tastefull shade and vintage or repro fittings and possibly sell it on. Paul.

Funny thing is that although I handled a lot of these, never had one with fittings!
