Title: Decanter and glasses exported to US
Post by: deco.queen on March 20, 2008, 08:10:19 PM
We collect Farberware from the 1920's and 30's.  The piece shown is in one of their catalogs from 1934.  We have a few pieces in our collection, http://callalily07.fortunecity.com/index.html (http://callalily07.fortunecity.com/index.html) Marvelous Metals, that were imported like this one.  If anyone runs across any information regarding exporting to S W Farber, Brooklyn, New York we would love to know about it.

This is a wonderful group of very helpful glass lovers, thank you!

They were brothers to the ones that owned Farberware.  They left and started their own company and made different items.  My site has their items also.  Both companies used glass from the major glass houses in the US but Farberware imported a lot to use.  Farberware items have the chrome attached or the glass sits in a holder.  On page 2 of my site are examples of Farber Bros.  Farber Bros made snap off chrome holders so the glass could be taken out to clean or change colors.

So the S W must have gone out of business before 1951. When did they start?

Farberware started business in 1900 and continues to produce excellent quality cutlery and cookware today.

In 1915 two brothers left S W Farber and formed Farber Bros. which stayed in business until 1965.
