Title: Pictures From An (The Scottish Glass Society) Exhibition!
Post by: chopin-liszt on July 25, 2005, 01:15:28 PM
:D:D:D
Well, I got there yesterday to pick up MY new piece! (I'm dependent on bad weather for Michael to take me anywhere at weekends, if it's good, he's off up mountains!)
Unfortunately, they were in the process of packing it all up, and I had to try to get as much photographed as I could in the middle of this, getting in their way, and bits being removed before I could get them, sadly, I did miss some great pieces. I've not photographed MY piece yet, that will come later!! I've put titles, where I've got them, in inverted commas.

Scottish Glass Society Exhibition, 2005, Strathearn Gallery, Crieff.

Thanks Sue for posting the photographs, great to see such a variety of new work.  I was particularly interested in seeing the fused pieces as I have just bought my first glass kiln.  It will be a long while, if ever, until I can produce work of anything like that standard.

Regards
Lynne (not Lynn, Lyn or even Lin but pronounced the same :D )

Thanks for sharing the pictures with us all Sue. After looking carefully I've already been in touch with Graham Muir to see about buying some of his graal work which looks superb.
I'm eagerly awaiting some of Lynne's work as we are a bit barren on art glass around Essex.

Well Paul, here's some more Graham Muir - and it's MINE, ALL MINE!
To be honest, I wanted all three pieces, but Michael would only buy me one!:cry::cry::wink:

Had I been there I don't think I could have gone and left the others behind, but what a fabulous piece to own, is it an annual event? if so looks like one for the diary. Long trip but might have to become a holiday.
Thanks again for sharing and enjoy a lovely item.

Yes it is annual and you can join the SGS at http://www.scottishglasssociety.com/

The Society, formed in 1979, was established to promote the development of the art and craftsmanship of glass making in its many variations in Scotland. Our aim is to advance the public appreciation of glass making as an art form.

 I didn't want to leave the others behind!

Michael was moaning about how big they were and how we don't have any room for them. I had to choose between them, and as I dithered, he got more and more upset, as he wanted to get away to do something else. He does like glass, but not to the extent I do, and despairs of the amount in the house! When he put up my wonderful shelves, he thought it might be an end to it, little realising that it just cleared space for more! He's not really a moan, he has IBS which can make him a bit grumbly when it gets on top of him.

Does anybody want me to zoom in on and seperate out the Morag Phillips plates into individual pics. and get their titles? I was getting tired when I was doing this, so I just left them as one big one.

Or I could add them into my Scottish Glass project... later though... next year probably.

Paul,

try the Pam Schomberg Gallery, 12, St Johns Street, Colchester, where there is a lot of good, modern glass.
We have a bowl by Jane Clark, a present from my sister who lives in Colchester, which is superb.

They do have a wide range of glass artists represented there. Essex is not a desert. If you are looking also for paintings, try Wladyslaw Mirecki,
an old school friend, who owns Chappell Galleries, Chappell nr Colchester. He is a fine water-colourist, as well as gallery owner.

Regards,

Marcus

In my original posting, this picture was described as Graham Muir, Phil Atrill and something un-id-ed.
The something un-id-ed is Jane Charles.

I've separated them if you want the five images — about 300KB in total. However, I can't make out the titles at all. Is your original photo larger? If so yuo might be able to make them out.

Sue, is there any chance that you still have these photos? Or does Frank, perhaps?
Thanks x

Now you're asking! I've certainly got my Wave form pics, Graham Muir, but will have to dig around this obsolete pc to see. (I can't organise stuff in a computer at all, where it goes is hit and miss, if I can find it again, it's hit and miss too!)

Well something's happened. They might even have gone into a new album.

No problem at all - you might like to fiddle with the pics a bit, I don't know how to work the things which do that, and I can explain my titles better if needed, to ID things.

Beautiful pics, Sue!  Well done!   But the first one isn't Allan Scott's 'Neptune', it's 'Amethyst Blue' (I know because I bought 'Neptune'!  ;) ;D )

I love that wave form, too!   :hiclp:   Lucky you!   :kissy:

I remember it well, Leni - and how it nearly got kept by somebody else! I haven't changed the titles from the original I don't know how to - I will have to get thet sorted out, but can't today - it was enough to cope with redoing them in photobucket then transferring the links.

In some titles, FT= Franco Toffolo, GM= Graham Muir and PA= Phil Atrill.
That's at least a start.

Sue thanks for letting us do this.  :-*

Cathy, to keep them all together I've set up a new album for the Exhibition images in the Events and Fairs section:
http://www.yobunny.org.uk/glassgallery/thumbnails.php?album=1019 - you should be able to upload into it once logged into GlassGallery.  8)
