Title: Green hooped cased vase. Scandinavian or....??
Post by: Seventh_Tree on April 01, 2008, 09:22:31 PM
I've seen these said to be made by various Scandinavian makers.
The shape of these looks pretty similar to one of Nanny Still's 'pompadour' vases, are there any connection between the two versions?
Is it possible that Riihimaki did these with the white interiors? Unless the clear cased version is not Riihmaki at all of course.
Does anyone have or seen a stickered one, even if it's just the country of where it was made?

I have a different hooped vase which has a 'Japan' sticker on the base so, it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out these were also made in Japan or China lol

Cheers 8)

These are very tricky to ID - they're often attributed to Holmegaard, Alsterfors and Riihimaki - I'm pretty certain this is none of those factories - Italian maybe?

Hirschberg of Germany is a likely contender.

Just updating a couple of old threads about these vases, for anyone that comes across them when searching for an ID like I did once..

Turns out they are not Scandinavian or German, but Japanese (as the original poster suggested), see here for one with a label:
