Further to items confirmed as Kaj Franck and my last reply, here are some little glasses that may or may not be ... along with a dish which I thought was interesting, although unfortunately it has a chip on the rim. They're not the strong colours of the other pieces so they're probably not but I'd appreciate your advice. :-*

None are Nuutajarvi.....and I think not scandi' from the colours? you may have more luck in the main ID section?
-
The top pair look like Whitefriars from the M60 sherry set in amber and sea green, is the solid base thicker on these than the other ones,it looks so to me .JP The more i look the more i am sure.
-
M60 Designed by Barnaby Powell in 1935 produced until 1960s.JP
-
And for the other shot glasses I suspect you'd be better off looking towards France and JG Durand / Arcoroc.
-
That's great JohnPhilip, yes they're much thicker. I've got five of the top ones, and that ties in as the main part of this collection seems to be Whitefriars.
AND Nic, thanks too , aren't Durand and Arcopal normally marked 'though? These have nothing. I'm attaching another photo of the whole group of these. They're really strange in that the colours - especially the blue and green ones - are smeary iridescent.
AND thanks Anne for moving the topic for me, and I hope you don't mind but I have six others I can't identify and rather than keep taking up new topics I've added them below. On the first photo (of the three larger ones on their own) the middle one is marked ENGLAND, the second photo shows all six. Hope this is ok to add them here?

Not all Durand is marked - this is a gin decanter and glasses from them, completely unmarked (but they came with their original box). The glasses are of much the same shape, weight and quality as yours (ignoring the screenprint design).

Thanks Nic, You're probably right. I've just found I have some other shot glasses in clear with a printed design which have FRANCE underneath.
I've also just found that I have another one of those dark amber glasses, marked ENGLAND, definitely matches the others but it's 10.5cm high. (photo below) :)

Hi Chris, They are better in separate topics please as when identified we archive them into country folders, which is harder if there's a mixture of origins. ;)
Re the iridescent ones, I have some fifties sets of iridescent glasses which were labelled ASTRA Glass - Astra being a marketing label used by an importer, we think, not a maker. Compare the colours in my original set of Astra glasses here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,813.0.html (image in first post.)

Hi Anne,
Thank you for the link. I don't think mine are as nice as yours - the iridescence seems to have worn over the years, especially on the blue ones. Perhaps they were a cheap Jones & Co. import ?!
Would you like me to move the amber glasses to a new topic, I don't think they're really interesting that's why I just added them. ;)
-
Hi Chris, as we don't yet know who Jones imported from, anything's possible! ;D The latest tots with the Astra label on are nothing like the iridescent ones so you guess is as good as mine. I keep rummaging around to see what else I can turn up about them - one day we may get a breakthrough. :)
I think worn iridescence may indicate a surface treated type rather than a fired in type. Mine aren't worn, but I have some others which were iridescent, and were washed in the dishwasher and are now totally clear glass - no shine at all! :o (I'm trying to remember if we've discussed this before and think we may have - I'll have a search.)
Yes please, if you can move the bits off to new topics, as we have a confirmed Whitefriars, a possible French, and a could be anywhere all in the same topic which will surely cause a headache to archive. >:D. Thanks Chris. :)

Moved, but I feel as if I'm taking up the entire message board now, Anne ;D !!

Nah don't worry Chris, there's loadsa space here. ;)
