I got asked to value some donations for the local Scouts Fundraiser this morning.
Amongst lots of rubbish was a set of modern blue glass: a jug, 4 large tumblers, 5 medium and 6 small, donated by a retired priest who bought them in the early 1970s.

They're a darker blue than would appear from the photos. The base is a very deep blue, and the colour appears lighter towards the rim as the glass thins.
Jug: 170mm Height by 125mm Diameter
Tumblers: 95mm H x 78mm D, 83mm H x 78mm D, 72mm H x 69mm D
They're unmarked, but going by the picture in Miller's 20th C Glass p150, I suspect they might be from the Holmegaard Greenland series from the early 1960s. Can anyone confirm, please?
The rims have been ground flat and then softened, like the Holmegaard Canada glasses. The bases have been torch polished in the centre and show no pontil marks.
If they are Greenland, I understand they're quite scarce and could sell very well. If anyone's interested in buying them in a good cause, please contact me offline (I hope that doesn't contravene the ethics of the board).
If not, they'll probably be on eBay in a couple of weeks. They're really nice. Hmm, I might even buy them for meself if noone else is interested...

They're not 'Greenland' series, as the colour of that was, well, green. ;D The advert reprinted in C20 Glass is a very poor colour representation.

I'd discount Holmegaard altogether, personally, and look towards Europe/Poland.

Well, if the Greenland items in Miller's are supposed to be green, then I'm speechless. The colour management is truly sh1te.
Thanks for the pic of the pitcher set. Those tumblers don't look anything like the one illustrated (pattern 17657), but they are the spit of the tumblers of the Winston service (Miller's, previous page).
Any idea of the dimensions of 17657?

Greenland-coloured tableware tended to recycle other shapes - the creamer I illustrated was also available in ruby and cobalt blue pre-Greenland.
No idea on the tumbler proportions. Greenland is fairly hard to come by within my budget, so I've only managed to acquires a few pieces of it - none of which were that form.
