Title: Bohemian?
Post by: lyndhurst44 on April 27, 2008, 06:46:17 PM
Hi,
This is a vase I've had for ages that I thought of as being a bit bland and so packed away in a box. I was looking for a an old green Skol Union vase and found it again together with this one. I remember I had thought of listing it here long ago as I didn't have a clue about it's origin, although it's shape tilted me towards Bohemian.
I wonder if anyone else has seen one like it before.
It's 8" tall and just over 6" at widest point. The base is flat.

Cheers,
Bryn

Very likely Bohemian,
Possibly ZBS or Železnobrodské sklo , Železný Brod, Czechoslovakia,im pretty sure its a shape they use regularly.
Im sure there are other possible manufactures in Eastern Europe that may have made
similar, may be difficult to narrow it down.
Regards
Andy

Yup, looks like ZBS (Zelezny Brod) to me - you'll see plenty more of similar (and different) shapes in Graham Cooley's Hi Sklo Lo Sklo exhibition and the accompanying catalogue
See www.sklo.co.uk for more information.
