Not sure if it's old, it's an olive green glass with a crackle effect on the outside, but smooth on the inside.
6cms high.

Hi Sandymae,
interesting vase, it looks old, the metal rim looks old, possibly Bohemian, Kralik or similar,
is the square base applied to the vase? Is there any signs of wear to the base? It looks
like there may be.
I hope someone recognises it :D

Seems to be an inkwell, and there should be other parts to complete the desk set. While it is undoubtably Bohemian from the 19th century (anytime after the 1840s when imitation stone was all the fashion) a maker will be almost impossible to identify.

Thanks Ivo, I wondered if it was an inkwell. It was in a box of glass items, which had a nice piece of Murano I wanted. So it's a little extra bonus!

Oh yes, an inkwell! I didnt see the 6cm bit :-[ Bit small for a vase! Duh!

Undoubtedly Bohemian? I haven't seen any Bohemian glass like this - is it shown in a reference I might have? There were glasses that looked like stone, but the ones I've seen were pretty different. I wouldn't say the shape of this piece is typically Bohemian, either. I'd lean more toward French. Possibly Bohemian, but undoubtedly is putting it pretty strong.

Thanks everyone for your imput.
Have put a few more photos on of the base/side view, so hopefully will help in it's ID. Would it have had a top as well if it's an inkwell?

Just bumping this as it was the item I referred to when trying to id my Kralik open crackle box. I think this could be Kralik as well perhaps?
